Champions celebrated at Applied Nutrition’s inaugural British Boxing Awards

The prestigious Applied Nutrition British Boxing Awards 2025 took place on Friday 28th March at The Langham Hotel in London, honouring the very best in British boxing.

Hosted by legendary world champions Ricky Hatton and Nicola Adams, the star-studded event brought together the sport’s biggest names to celebrate an unforgettable year in boxing.

Joe Gallagher picked up Coach/Trainer of the Year and received a standing ovation after his recent cancer diagnosis. Male Boxer of the Year was claimed by heavyweight sensation Daniel Dubois, who cemented his status as one of the division’s top contenders ahead of his highly anticipated fight with Oleksandr Usyk. Meanwhile, the legendary Frank Bruno was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his immense contribution to the sport and his enduring legacy as a British boxing icon.

Sadly, too unwell to attend after his recent diagnosis for a viral infection, Frank Bruno said on receiving his award:

‘Thank you to Applied Nutrition and all the people that voted for me to win this prestigious award. To receive a lifetime achievement award while only in your 60’s is a little worrying especially with my youthful looks and young man’s body! But seriously, when I think back to when I was a child and Muhammad Ali was fighting and I wanted to be a World Champion fighter – I wanted to hear the ring MC saying ‘Frank Bruno Champion of the World’.  Well in 1995 it finally happened and that is my legacy and no-one can take that away from me. Apart from boxing, I have tried to be the voice of mental health for the masses of people who are ignored. I am continuing to bring awareness of mental health sufferers and their carers into the media and to MPs. It’s a long journey but as a boxer I was a fighter and for Mental Health I will continue fighting. I am glad people recognise me for actually doing something and hope that when it’s time to finally retire that people of all ages from all walks of life can all say Frank Bruno has given to people in entertainment, in sports, and as an ambassador for charitable causes and he deserved a lifetime achievement award. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. How proud my old mum, my dad (God rest their souls) would be of me now – a young cheeky big lad from South London, I thank you all again.’

Sky Sports took home the award for Boxing Broadcaster of the Year, reaffirming its reputation as the home of world-class boxing coverage. Other notable winners included Lauren Price, who was named Female Boxer of the Year, Joe Gallagher, who was recognised as Coach/Trainer of the Year and Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, who took home International Promoter of the Year.

On the awards, Founder and CEO of Applied Nutrition, Thomas Ryder, said: “Applied Nutrition are thrilled to have supported such a fantastic event highlighting the dedication, talent and spirit of the industry from grassroots to the star fighters in the ring.  I was personally honoured to present the award for Coach of the Year to the legendary Joe Gallagher whose contribution to the sport far exceeds just that of coach and trainer.  Joe is truly a hero to myself and so many, and we look forward to being able to celebrate the best of British Boxing for years to come.”
